About The Art

Fractals are infinitely complex patterns which are self-similar across progressively different scales. They are created by repeating a mathematical methodology in an ongoing feedback loop. These fractals are snapshots of simulations of dynamic systems; pictures of random and chaotic phenomena which help us understand disparate topics from the natural world, such as the growth of crystals, fluid turbulence, and the formation of galaxies.

Who is 0xBanana?

Jason Schorr, known as 0xBanana, is an algorithmic artist who explores the intersections and boundaries of technology and nature. While his professional career is in the world of cybersecurity and cloud engineering, his personal passions lean closer to firespinning, flow arts, photography, tinkering with electronics, international travel, and making art. He lives with his family in New York City.

Spiral Sucrose

The upcoming 3rd Collection by 0xBanana, “Spiral Sucrose”, presents golden ratios and logarithmic spirals, studied for centuries by artists and scientists alike for their pleasing aesthetic and mathematical qualities. It is said that mathematician Jacob Bernoulli wanted such a spiral engraved on his headstone along with the Latin phrase “Eadem mutata resurgo” (“Although changed, I shall arise the same”). Enjoy a complex interplay of light and dark, cosmically unique patterns, and self-similar transformations of code into a cohesive artistic vision.
